Mohamed Algarj is a Libyan journalist, economic researcher and strategic communications consultant. His work covers public finance, foreign exchange, oil and institutional governance. A former television presenter, editor and news producer at Libya Alahrar, he combines field reporting, official records and policy research to explain Libya’s economy to public and specialist audiences.

Mohamed Algarj is a Libyan journalist, economic researcher and independent strategic communications consultant. He analyses public expenditure, foreign-exchange policy, oil revenue and institutional governance, publishing source-led work in Arabic and English on algarj.com. He worked at Libya Alahrar TV from April 2019 to 1 August 2025, initially as a news producer and, from May 2021, as an economics presenter and editor. His research experience includes a freelance assignment with BBC Eye Investigations in May–June 2025 and separate commissioned field-research assignments for Chatham House in 2020 and 2023. He previously worked as a field monitor with the International Organization for Migration in Libya. Alongside independent consulting, he contributes economic analysis to Libya Economic Review. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Administrative Sciences from the University of Zintan, Faculty of Accounting in Rujban, and an MSc in Management Information Systems from Istanbul Topkapi University.
